I work with a wide variety of clients in both the private and public sectors, and also in partnership with other organisations and freelance specialists.
My knowledge of sustainability extends from climate change impacts and mitigation to the resource management agenda, including sustainable consumption and production. I’ve also edited extensively on low-carbon and energy efficiency solutions, and public policy as it relates to these topics is a further strength.
Before going freelance in 2010, I was Policy Advisor for Materials Recovery at ESA, the trade association for the waste management industry (2007-09), where I covered policy relating to recycling, energy recovery and organics processing.
I previously held a number of posts at WRAP (2001-07), latterly as advisor to local authorities on recycling collection systems and processing.
My career in the sustainability sector started at the UK Environment Department in 1999 in the Producer Responsibility Unit, working on implementation of EU Directives on packaging waste, waste electrical and electronic equipment, and end-of-life vehicles.
I studied Geography at Cambridge University in the early 1990s, and three years later completed a master's degree in Environmental Technology at Imperial College, London.
